We caught up with Girlfriend's fashion editor, Lisa Stern, to talk summer trends!

What are the hottest trends right now - what should we be splurging on?
My top 5 would be tye dye - it's everywhere!! Midriff styles and tanks, distressed denim in cuff offs, jeans and mini skirts with embellishments like stud detail, and statement necklaces - my personal fave!

What trends can we expect to see in the upcoming summer issues?
Monochrome, lots of colour, statement accessories like big earrings and necklaces, the global trend, jumpsuits, ditsy florals and the list goes on...

What are some of your favourite online shopping sites?
miijo - for its great accessories, ebay and Topshop!

Do you find yourself buying pieces you've used in the magazine quite often?
Sometimes... the only thing is by the time it comes into store I've moved onto the next piece I'm lusting after!

What does your role as fashion editor involve?
Lots of running around seeing ranges, sourcing the best pieces for shoots, going to launches, styling for celebrity shoots, still life and main fashion shoots.

What's your background in fashion?
I went to uni and did a BA majoring in art history and theory, did about 5 years of work experience at different mags then freelanced as an assistant on shoots and commercials, then worked on 2 other mags before landing the Fash Ed role at GF.

What do you love most about styling for Girlfriend?
The fun and young element - I adore styling for teens - it's crazy fun. I love mixing it up - I pretend I'm a teen too!
